Dr Tim McClure, Founder
Pastor Tim McClure, PhD was a man who loved God, his family, and people. He dedicated his life to serving and taking care of all of three. He was happily married to his wife Jenny for 40 years, proud father of three children: Chanda, Tim Jr, and Aleena and very excited to be called “GP” (Grandpa) by his three grandchildren: Dylan, Aurora and Amiley. Dr McClure moved to Melbourne, FL in 1980 and founded Promiseland Church where he built a 26,000 square feet complex of buildings on six acres of property. During these decades, Dr McClure has baptized over 3800 people and has seen more than 5000 unsaved people give their heart to Christ.
Pastor McClure held a BA in Pastoral Administration from Spirit & Truth College, an MS in Psychology from South Hampton University, and a Doctorate of Divinity along with a Ph D in Psychology from St Thomas College.
Pastor McClure was an author of several books, a spiritual leader, and a motivational speaker who had ministered in over 30 countries. He was a Biblical Entrepreneur who had helped people start and succeed in businesses of all kinds. Pastor McClure was a professional relationship specialist and had counseled thousands over the past three decades. He was a beloved pastor, husband, father, and friend to all.
After spending time preparing for ministry in both Maryland and Jacksonville, Florida, Pastor Tim McClure, his wife Jenny and two children moved to Melbourne in 1980. There he founded Bible Truth Church. His youngest daughter was born in 1985. The whole family labored together in ministry, and in 2001 when the new structure was completed next door to the original building, the church was renamed Promiseland.
Pastor McClure’s vision for Promiseland Church was for it to be a place where dreams came true. He believed that every life had a distinct purpose, and this belief fueled all his efforts. The church has had various successful outreach programs such as: a children’s Sunday School bus ministry, prison outreach, hospital and nursing home visitation, in-home Bible study groups, a private school, a pre-school, and drama ministry, just to name a few. A highlight of the outreach ministries was the annual Thanksgiving feeding of homeless and shut-ins throughout the county. Every Thanksgiving morning, church members gather to put together anywhere from 200 – 400 boxed meals that would then be distributed to the homeless, the hospitals, and those who were shut-in without any family resources.
Last week, Pastor McClure and his high school sweetheart, Jenny, were on a cruise celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. It was meant as a romantic getaway from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives. After making stops in Cozumel, Mexico and Belize, the couple were off the coast of Honduras on a snorkeling excursion when Pastor. McClure died despite medical attempts to revive him. The exact cause of death is still to be determined pending an official autopsy, although medical authorities state that he did not drown.
Pastor McClure leaves behind his beloved wife, Jenny, his three children: Chanda, Tim Jr., and Aleena, his three grandchildren: Dylan, Aurora, and Amiley, along with various brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces. Furthermore, there are countless others that claim him as their own. Although his loss was unexpected, his son Tim Jr. will continue to build the legacy that his father created. In one of his first acts as the new pastor of Promiseland Church, Tim Jr. called on all the members to support him as he ushers them through this very difficult time. Tim Jr. worked with his father everyday on both church and personal matters. He had already begun to oversee various ministries within the church, including the praise and worship. His installation as pastor ensures that the work of Pastor. McClure will continue. He will be officially inducted this Sunday, July 7th at 10:30am.
The memorial service for Pastor Tim McClure, PhD will be held at Promiseland Church this Saturday, July 6th, at 2:00pm.The church is located at 1855 Lansing Street, Melbourne, FL 32935. We believe the Bible is given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, infallible, and God’s revealed word to man (Ps 68:11; 2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:20-21).
We believe that Scripture teaches that there is only one true God who has manifested Himself as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in regeneration (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10,11; Matthew 28:19; Col 2:9).
We believe that mankind is born sinful in need of salvation (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Psalm 51:5; Ecclesiastes 7:29; John 6:44; Romans 5:12-21; 1 Corinthians 2:14).
We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God and the son of man, that He came to save man from condemnation of sin by giving his life and offering His blood as an atonement and making it available to all who exercise faith in Him (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31, 35; John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential (Luke 7:50, 24:47; Romans 10:13-15; 1 Corinthians 1:18; 2 Corinthians 2:15; Ephesians 2:8, 9; 2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 2:11, 3:5-7).
We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live an overcoming life (Romans 8:5; Philippians 2:12, 13; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 John 2:29).
We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to believers who ask for it (Joel 2:28; Acts 2:4).
We believe in water baptism by immersion for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16, Matt 3:15, Matt. 28:19, Rom 6:3, 1 Peter 3:21).
We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and all who believe in Jesus (Matthew 24:31-46; Acts 24:15; Revelation 22:11).
We believe in the personal appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; 1 Thes 4:13-18; 1 John 3:2).
We believe in miracles and healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer (Isaiah 53:4, 5; Mark 16:18; James 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:24).
We believe that discipleship teaching and training through preaching and teaching God’s word is essential in order for a believer to sustain and maintain a successful growing life in Christ (John 8:31, 2 Tim 2:15, Heb 4:12, Col 1:23, 1 Tim 4:16, 2 Tim 3:14-17).
